For a second year, Copperfield London will take part in the next edition of ARCOMadrid 2019 into the Opening section, from 27th of February to 3rd of March, with a solo presentation with Óscar Santillán. The Opening section, under the curatorship of Tiago de Abreu Pinto and Ilaria Gianni, who have selected 19 galleries, including Copperfield, to present together with a plural geographic and generational perspective.
Once again, Brit Es Magazine is a Media Partner of JUSTMAD, Spain’s flagship art fair dedicated to emerging and young artists which presents its 10th edition in Madrid from Tuesday 26 February until Sunday 3 March 2019. More than 60 exhibitors from across Europe and the Americas participate in this anniversary edition of the fair, which takes place at the Palacio de Neptuno (pictured), located in the heart of the art district of the Spanish capital.
‘Straight lines don’t exist in the natural world.’ This is the opening line of ‘The Distance Between Us’, one of the videos by Marco Godoy on display at London’s Copperfield Gallery. BritEs caught up with the artist, originally from Madrid, during this year’s ARCO contemporary art fair.
The contemporary art fair JustMAD9 is taking place in Madrid between 20-25 February. They have a new venue, at Nuñez de Balboa 32, which will be called JUST SPACE, is a 1,500 square metre space and is situated in one of Madrid’s most dynamic and central districts.
We sat down with the curation team, Daniel Silvo and Semíramis González, to find out a little more about them and what they’ve got in store for us in their ninth annual fair.
On 17th of March, its was launched a 40 day crowdfuning campaign to cover the production costs of the performance ‘The Cardboard Gondolier’ .. It will take place in Venice, on 10th of May, in San Trovaso Canal. It is a symbolic place, the site of the most famous gondola workshop in Venice, called “Squero”. The artistic action will be curated by Miguel Mallol.
The Other Art Fair it’s a With bi-annual fairs strongly established in London, The Other Art Fair has grown both in the UK and abroad with editions now in Bristol and Sydney. Four Spanish artists showcase their work this year: Carmen M. Castañeda, Franciso J. Jiménez, Elena García de la Fuente and Alejandra Corral.
Art15 returns to Olympia in London from 21-23 May 2015 and two major curatorial projects are to be unveiled at Art15 this year. Kathleen Soriano, an independent curator and former Director of Exhibitions at the Royal Academy of Arts, is curating ‘Freedom Audit’ , an exhibition focusing on freedom of expression and how artists around the world negotiate boundaries of taste, mutual respect and tolerance.
The Other Fair (2015) visitors have the opportunity to meet, discuss and buy from 130 emerging artists chosen by an esteemed panel of experts. In this edition several Spanish creators present their works like Elena García de la Fuente, Álvaro Tamarit, Alejandra Corral (Kuska), Carmen M. Castañeda, Carolina Amigo, Francisco Nicolás or Lorena García Mateu.
