We are very happy to announce that the film ‘JAMON’ (2012), directed and animated by Iria López, will take part of the programme ‘CORTOMETRAJES, 7 Brit Es Short Films’, an upcoming screening in London organized by Shorts on Tap and Brit Es Magazine.

Brit Es’ concept defines the people, projects, trends and cultural offerings in the UK that have a Spanish quality or origin, but are also influenced by and inseparable from British culture. Both platforms has been working together to create this event and choose an outstanding selection of seven ‘Brit Es’ short films that will be screened next 16th of September at

Iria López is a freelance director, animator and illustrator based in London, graduated from the National Film and Television School with an MA in Animation Direction in 2012. ‘Jamón’ is her graduation film, a traditionally-animated film with silkscreen printed backgrounds made at the National Film and Television School. She is the co-founder of Wednesday Collective, an animation studio that produces shorts, web-based content and commercials for clients such as Barbican, NESTA, Microsoft and UNESCO.

‘Jamón’ tells the story of a teenager living in a Spanish town who just so happens to be the only pig in a human family. One day, a new neighbour moves in, and young José begins to realise who he really is. Using the pig as a metaphor for the individual who feels different and alone in apparently ‘normal’ surroundings, ‘Jamón’ takes us into a parallel, multi-coloured world of screen printed backgrounds, created by Irene Fuga from designs by López.

The film has won several awards and has take part of many official selections and screenings. Check the list of awards and screenings here: http://cargocollective.com/jamonfilm/Awards-Screenings
